It is common to hear pastors cite the Septuagint, as the first version of the Scriptures, but in the Bible Dictionary, Jon D. Davis, on page 613, states that CAN NOT DEPOSIT IN CONFIDENCE PRIMARILY IN SEPTUAGINT ESCO-OP OF THE WORK. Peter Ruckman, in his book Christian’s Hand-book of Manuscript Evidence, says: The letter of Aristeas is mere fabrication fraudulent and malevolent, and that nobody can make a Greek copy of the Old Testament written BEFORE THE YEAR 300 (early fourth century) AD Ruckman lists some Greek manuscripts from which came the Septuagint; 1 – Alexandrine – 300 years after the New Testament was completed. (ie: IV century AD) 2 – Aloph-Sinaiticus, written over 300 years after the NT has been completed. 3 – Codes Efraemim, written over 300 years after the New Testament was completed. (that is a shame pastors) Dr. Watson in SL Concise Bible Dictionary, on page 166, says the Septuagint, is A LEGEND! Flavio Yosef (Josephus), second read in ANTIQUITIES OF THE JEWS, Book 10, (AJ 10218) translated the historical books of the Torah into Greek.
