Reading: Apoc. 9: 1-21
And the fifth angel sounded his shofah, and I saw a star that was fallen from heaven, and the key of the pit was given to him. 2 And he opened the pit of the deep, and smoke came up out of the pit like the smoke of a great furnace: and the smoke of the pit darkened the sun and the air. 3 Out of the smoke went a grasshopper upon the earth: and power was given to it, as that which hath the scorpions of the earth. 4 They were told to do no harm to the grass of the earth, or any green thing, but only to men who do not have the seal of YEHWH on their foreheads. 5 And they were not allowed to slay them, but to torment them for five months. 6 In those days men shall seek death, and shall not find it; and they shall desire to die, and death shall flee from them. 7 And the appearance of the locust was like that of horses, prepared for war: and upon their heads were like a crown like gold: and their faces were as the faces of men. 8 They had hair like the hair of women, and their teeth were like the teeth of lions. 9 And he had breastplates like iron breastplates, and the noise of his wings was as the noise of chariots of many horses running to battle. 10 They had tails with stings, like the tails of scorpions; and in his tails was his power to do men harm for five months. 11 They had the angel of the abyss as king, whose name is Abaddom in Hebrew, and in Greek Apoliom. 12 And there is an end, and behold, two years hence come. 13 The sixth angel sounded his shofah; and I heard a voice from the four horns of the golden altar that stood before YHWH, 14 which said to the sixth angel, who had the shofah: Release the four angels that are bound by the great river Perat (Euphrates). 15 And the four angels, who were prepared for that hour and day and month and year, were slain to slay a third of the men. 16 The number of the armies of the gentlemen was two myriads; for I heard their number. 17 And thus I saw the horses in this vision; and they that were upon them had breastplates of fire, and of jacinth, and of brimstone; and the heads of the horses were like the heads of lions; and out of their mouths came fire, smoke, and brimstone. 18 By these three plagues a third of the men were killed, that is, by the fire, by the smoke, and by the brimstone, which came out of their mouths. 19 For the power of the horses was in their mouths and in their tails. For the tails were like serpents, and had heads, and with them they did harm. 20 The other men who were not killed by these plagues did not repent of the works of their hands, to stop worshiping the devils, and to the idols of gold, silver, bronze, stone, and wood, which they can not see , neither hear nor walk. 21 Neither have they repented of their murders, nor of their sorceries, nor of their prostitution, nor of their thefts.
The astonishing events suffered by many peoples today are those announced by Yehoshua the Messiah, when he spoke about the end of the world, he said: “Men (ie people) will faint with terror as they contemplate the things that will come upon the world. “Lk.21: 25,26.
